Today is one of those days that everything goes bad.... the baby is crankier than usual, I didn't have breakfast, I was late for my pilates class, my baby fought with 3 kids in the gym daycare, one of my dogs has diarrhea and It was me who cleaned the mess, my husband forgot to take out the garbage and the dogs open the bag and spill it all over the kitchen and dining room... and I could go on and on... Usually this kind of things don't affect me much. But today I'm depressed (again) and everything just seems to have more importance than it really has. In days like this there's only one thing to do... keep going and let it go... I know this shall pass... and the day is getting better. Maybe the light helps because the brighter the day the better my mood. Writing also helps, reading this makes me see it with other perspective.. it not such a bad day after all...
Yesterday on the other hand, was great! I finished some works I had pending and manage to make 2 watercolors!!! I love working with watercolors. It's a series I want to start of a girl and her cat. I hope to make more with the same theme. I love the color palette and the innocence of both.

I think it's been a while since my last post, but things have been so busy around here I haven't had the time to write a little bit... but fortunately I've had time to work in some pieces (some commissions that needed to finish, some work for the TDIPT Mercantile, and some more for Ebay)... I drank a very strong coffee tonight and managed to finish some paintings. Very restricted palette... they turned out great I think... but I need my sleep so I will leave you a preview (they're going to be on Ebay).... also check out my new dolls at the TDIPT Mercantile, we're celebrating Halloween this month!

- I slept late!!! Until 10:30 am... very unusual now that my baby walks and is active since the sun rises...
- I finally finished a painting for my living room!! is pretty big (about 40x50") and covers a bare wall that has been like that since I repainted the room.
- I ate pizza... yummy
- My baby slept 3 hours in the afternoon (that means 3 full hours for me!!)
- And I got a Nice Matters Award from Tonya (Black Porch Pickings). Thank you Tonya!!! I'm really honored! By the way, if you haven't seen Tonya's creations go and take a look. She makes wonderful dolls and she's as sweet as pie : ) Backporchpickings

I just saw "Miss Potter". How a wonderful movie!!! It is full of magic and hope. If you haven't seen it I recommend it a lot! It's a beautiful story, and good for children too. I love it. I specially love the fact that she was an artist and that she spoke to her creations. That makes me feel good about myself, actually. I also talk to them, and they talk back to me... Specially the dolls... and if she wasn't crazy, neither do I, then!

As the end of the summer approaches, the stores fill with autumn and Halloween items, the days get shorter and my paintings start looking a little bit different.
I love the old, weathered look the vintage wash gives to them. The dark vignette that surrounds almost all my pieces add yet another layer of interest. My palette changes, as well as my choice of papers.
I leave behind the bright summer colors and introduce the paler, more worn ones.
