ART ATTACK!

Well... I really needed that art refresh, so I got my watercolor brushes and paper... and before I knew it I had a lot of ACEO cards in my hands. Changing medium always does the trick for me and fuels my creativity again. Check out the results on my Etsy shop! and don't forget to click on the image to grab it as wallpaper for you ;-)

Too much information...

I went to the movies yesterday. I watched "The fox and the child". A beautiful, inspiring movie. I needed some time to relax and going to the movies almost always do the trick. This time it didn't fail. The movie is so beautiful, with wonderful scenarios and lots of wild life. I'm longing for some time in a place like that.

Lately I've found that I spend most of my time online. Updating my flickr, my blog, facebook, twitter and the store has become a full time job. Sometimes I spend more time in the computer than making art. I wonder what should I write where and if I'm not boring you with so much information... or if I should post the same thing everywhere so you don't have to check them all... or if I should take more time to create instead of being on the computer but then you will forget about me because you're not seeing what I'm doing. Other days I have so many things in my mind and I'd love to write a long post but the time passes and before I know, I already forget what I wanted to write. Or nothing interesting happens to me and this blog becomes more a compilation of pictures than a blog. But again, I'm an artist, not a writer. I prefer a 1000 times more to paint than to write and sometimes is easier for me to show you what I'm doing or how I feel with a picture than with words.
Does this make sense?

Finding the right balance between all those things plus the real life is a real challenge. What do you think?

Autumn is almost here...

Autumn is almost here.... my favorite time of the year!!! I feel like it's spring again! Not the burning sun and the extreme hot anymore :) My little plants are getting bigger and flowering again and I've been de-cluttering my house room by room.

I've been in this house for only 6 years and we don't have room for anything anymore! I tend to keep everything and something inside me just know that I NEED to let go. New things can't come unless they have space. Now I have 4 empty drawer in the walk in closet in which now you can actually walk.

My studio is the last thing I will clean. It's the part of the house where I keep most of the things I don't want to give away and it's also the part that is most crowded and full of things I know I won't use. I have too many books, too many materials, too many things! I need more space to breathe and create.

Have a great weekend!

Art Journaling Magazine and some sketchbooks

I've been wanting to share this good news with you for a while but I was waiting for the issue to arrive everywhere. I wrote an article for the Autumn issue of Art Journaling magazine!

It's all about going back to basics with great tips for beginners and for busy art journalists.

I have several journals already finished and I'd like to share some of the pages from those with you since there are not many pictures of the one I sent in the magazine (and I don't have it with me yet).

I like a lot to use a picture from myself when I was about 5 years old and I'm dressed as a flower with my older sister's costume in my journal. Sometimes I just cut the face and paste it on other body.

I also have LOTS of scrap paper from my collages and I use that as well as ephemera and other things I find around. I'm a visual person and I don't write much on my art journal. I usually feel that I express myself better with color and shapes or that someone else has said it better so I print and paste the text on my journal.

Other times I use mostly paint to fill the backgrounds and a mixture of drawings, paper and stamps. A few words and pictures can say a lot sometimes.

Other times I just journal about the most trivial things. I have entries in my journals about days I wanted to go out but couldn't or just with images or color combination or candy wraps that I like. Before becoming a painter I used to draw the most memorable thing in my day in a notebook and I still can remember pretty much what I did just by looking at those little drawings.

Remember my last post with lots of Gocco printed images? I got carried away and I made a limited edition of 60 Sketchbooks.
They're very pretty and useful! You can use them for sketches, doodling, making lists, art journaling and many other things you can think of... I only made 20 of each
(ruled, squared and blank) and they're 5x8 each and made with recycled fibers (so you won't feel guilty for getting more than one).

And they're available here.

Oh and before I forget, I just make a new section in my shop that will be open just for the season to make it easier for you to find all the HALLOWEEN related items :)

Hope you have a wonderful week!

A week already!!! New dolls in the shop!

I can't believe it's been a week already.... Isn't just yesterday Monday when I was taking my little one to her first day of school? Now she's been there a week and we have been adjusting well to the changes.

It's been a crazy week... but that didn't stopped me for working on some new stuff! I just added 2 dolls to the shop and I'm preparing a Halloween update...
