Huge print showoff

I know I just made a post in the morning but I couldn't help myself. I just got from the printers this huge print of my painting "The little mermaid" and I'm so happy with it! I love painting small and I'm used to make prints in letter size, but looking at it like this is making me want to go and paint large!

What do you think? Should I offer them in my shop?

Frida Kahlo paper doll

I was looking for some watercolor paper the other day and I found my Frida Paper doll still unfinished and decided to give it a try. There's a picture of me painting it in the first book I Appear: "Where Women Create: The book of inspiration". It's been a while since that picture was taken and I decided to finish the doll and go play with her.

Wouldn't you love to have the opportunity to sit and play with Frida Kahlo, make her your buddy and help her dress up in some of her favorite outfits? I love doing it and I know you do too! That's why I'm offering her as a print in my shop, so you can have endless hours of fun with her.  And when you don't have a chance to play with her, remember to leave near her dear Red Judas Skull Friend so she doesn't feel so lonely.

The big decision...

Today was my little one's first day at school.  It was a decision that took me a long time and sleepless nights to take.  We haven't separated since he was born and it's hard for both of us, but it's all for the better.

I read the other day in Kelly Rae's blog about her struggle with taking a similar decision. She talks about how hard it was for her to combine everything, how to do it all and she thought she wasn't giving her best at any.  It's me right there. In my struggle to do it all I'm doing nothing and my health is compromising as well.  I don't rest enough, I can't find balance. Life here is getting very hectic and something needed to be do about it.  By taking him just a few hours a day I can do some of my personal stuff and hopefully work a bit without interruptions and have more free time when both of my kids arrive home.

I feel a little bit of guilt for that decision,  I feel that I should carve more time for them but also how can I be there fully for them if I'm always thinking about other stuff because I don't have time for it? Am I doing the right thing?  I know lots of moms who take their babies to daycare and frankly I don't know how they mange to do it... how they can let go...  I'm finding it so hard...  but I've been through this process before and and I hope we will both feel Ok about it very soon. I know he's much stronger than I am.

It will be all for the better.

Not what I had expected...

And I'm back. Did you notice my absence? I've been having one of those weeks that you wish it would end sooner, just to find out that this one is going to be the same.  I went to my parent's last week with my children with the illusion to have a really nice time there and have fun... how wrong was I.

Everything was perfect until Monday, when I got sick following with a tuesday of sickness and headaches, followed by a Wednesday of more pain, followed by a Thursday of heavy cramps followed by a Friday of more stomachache. Saturday and Sunday? Toothache plus stomachache! Definitely not what I had in mind. Have an appointment with the dentist today and I hope it ends this.  I'm also going to the supermarket to buy some kind food for my poor stomach and I hope to get better soon.

It really bothers me to get sick, but this was specially annoying as I don't really have the opportunity to spend time with my whole family like last weekend :(

Sorry for the rant but sometimes I need to spill out and get some support.  Please send me good vibes, I really need them right now!

And I hope you have a really better week that mine!

A very busy weekend!

This weekend was very busy and fun! The Friday started to a visit to our local Cinema to watch "The Lorax".  Then on Saturday, my friend Lillian invited us to her daughter's birthday party, everything was so beautiful! The theme was "Alice in Wonderland" and there were lots of beautiful Alice-related things everywhere. You even get to make your own hat at a craft station she placed under a huge tree.

Then on Sunday we went to Las Cruces, NM to visit our favorite bookstore, Coas.  I was in luck! I found a 1884 book with poems and flowers, so beautiful! It even has a golden foil... precious.

I also found this Victorian photo album... I'm thinking about using them to make some watercolor portraits, what do you think?
The bookstore is old and you swear there must be ghosts there... my little one was acting like crazy running around the halls like he was chased by one... turns out he was very hungry.  A quick trip to a pizzeria and we were done for the day.

Well, they were done for the day, but not me, who came home to cook chocolate waffles and then started working on some new paintings and dolls.
Meanwhile the new fairies are ready for adoption, I can't decide which one is my favorite!

Well, off to work again, this time in our Easter eggs...
so far, from a dozen we had, we only have 10 left...
wish us luck!
