New Angels Available On My Shop!

New cute little angels are available today on my Etsy shop. Drop by and pick your favorite! They are looking for new homes to look after, and they'll love to be on yours =)

This is what I see when I look down.

I had to share this pic with you. The other day I looked down and I realized that my baby belly suddenly grew like... out of nowhere!

Now when I look down I see this roundness that was not there before. I want to meet him, and the same time and I want to keep him safe, right there where I can always look after him.

A weekend between Fridas, Angels and Queens!

Hi! How is your week doing? I expect it to be very busy, just like my weekend. I spent it between Clowns, Fridas, Angels and Queens and I even got the visit of a little Nurse!

On Friday, we went to the theater to see the Aga-Boom! Show. It's so funny and simple... We had a lot of fun. It made me remember that sometimes the simplest, most common things can be the best choice. If you have the opportunity to watch it in your city, go! You'll have lots of fun!

After that, I spent my time creating and here are the results of my weekend.

First of all, let me introduce you to the Queens: "Queen of imagination", "Queen of Wonder" and "Queen of Smiles".
Little mixed media collages on pressed wood 3x6 inches.
Then, here are the angels. Little winged creatures that come to remind us to Love, Enjoy and Bloom.
Little mixed media collages on pressed wood 3x6 inches.
And of course, here are the Fridas! "Frida Dreams" "Unique" and "Frida Forever".
Little mixed media collages on pressed wood 3x6 inches.

And finally, the little "Healer of the Heart". Should you have troubles or can't sleep?, She's here to help you and make you feel like new again with her extra special moon drops!
5x7 Mixed media collage on pressed wood.

All of them will be listed in my shop Today at 8:00 pm EST.

They're very small and very affordable.. you don't want to miss them!

Have a great week!

Inspiration from the written word....

I've been noticing that my inspiration comes a lot from music and the written word. Sometimes I heard a phrase, or a title of a song or a book or a tale and it sparks an idea that needs to be drawn and painted.

This is the case of my 2 newest paintings: Queen Bee (from "The Secret life of bees"). A 6x12 inches mixed media collage on wooden panel. It may not have much to do with the book... but when I heard the title I imagine this girl who was the one to whom all the bees came for advice and nectar and to rest a bit after a long work day...

And there's also one based on my favorite poem by my favorite poetry writer, Jaime Sabines. "La luna" It's in Spanish but I found it translated:

Y
ou can take the moon by the spoonful
or in capsules every two hours.
It's useful as a hypnotic and sedative
and besides it relieves
those who have had too much philosophy.
A piece of moon in your purse
works better than a rabbit's foot.
Helps you find a lover
or get rich without anyone knowing,
and it staves off doctors and clinics.
You can give it to children like candy
when they've not gone to sleep,
and a few drops of moon in the eyes of the old
helps them to die in peace.

Put a new leaf of moon
under your pillow
and you'll see what you want to.
Always carry a little bottle of air of the moon
to keep you from drowning.
Give the key to the moon
to prisoners and the disappointed.
For those who are sentenced to death
and for those who are sentenced to life
there is no better tonic than the moon
in precise and regular doses.

Jaime Sabines

-- Poemas sueltos, 1981
translated by W. S. Merwin

She's eating her spoonful of moon before going to bed... nothing helps you sleep better.
(5x7 inches on wood panel).

Both paintings available here.

Ooops! I think I haven't been around much lately!

I think it's the summer... or maybe the beautiful clouds we have been seeing lately in the sky... maybe it's just that I'm over tired most of the time. I'm not sure, but I haven't been around much lately. I'm trying to spend more time with my little one before the baby arrives. I've read that you need to pay special attention to the one that is already here so she doesn't feel like the new brother just came to take away everything from her.

I've been thinking a lot too about what are we going to do with the space. We have 3 rooms (one of them is my studio) and we were 3 (mom and dad in one room, little girl in the other). Now we're going to be 4 (a boy and a girl) and they're going to need their own space soon. It would be so much easier if the baby was a girl but he is a boy and they're going to be 4 1/2 years of difference. They will need their own space. Any ideas that don't involve building an extra room? Do you think it will work if they have to share the room?
