Being thankful :)

I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. I didn't have the chance to wish you a great day with your loved ones but I'm sure Holiday is not over yet :)...

I have so many things to be thankful right now. I'm in a warm house. I'm with my family. I have health. I love my work. I have you...I feel blessed in many ways. I love this day because it gives you the chance to think about the many things we usually overlook because we have it everyday.

So I'm very thankful. And as a thank you for sticking out with me this year I'm giving free US shipping in my Etsy shop Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

You've made this year wonderful :)

Thanks a lot!

WOW! Thanks a lot for the great response to the shop's update! Things are selling pretty quick, so if you have your eye on something, better grab it now before someone else does!

For tomorrow, Mr. Danita is listing more boxes, jewelry and a new print, you can check them out now as he's creating the listing.... I'm too shaky to do that now. After we made a late run to the Post Office (It's great that they keep a kiosk open 24 Hrs a Day!) a big SUV almost hit my little car, I'm still very scared and shaky... I Guess I better go to bed and relax, I don't think I can take more excitement for the day.

Have a great dinner tomorrow, enjoy the holiday and don't forget to drop by the shop to see what else got added during the day.

Good night!

I've been trying to make a BIG Etsy shop update and I just can't!... I've been doing lots of stuff for the season and I just couldn't list it all at once. So this is what I'm going to do. Starting today, I'll be adding new products daily to the shop. If you want sneak peeks you can go to my Flickr and if you see something that is still not listed but you want it NOW, just contact me and I'll be happy to list it for you (unless is already sold or on Ebay)... What do you think? Sounds good? Then go and check it out :)

Also, I'm on twitter! I'll be adding short updates there every time I list new stuff, that way you can be on top of things. If you are not following me yet, here is the link:

Thanks! Have a super duper thanksgiving holiday!

I went to the movies...

Alone!... It's my first time. I've never been alone to the movies and I thought It would be worse. It was, in fact, fun! No fighting over which movie to watch... not sharing the popcorn... and not even have to find x number of seats in a good place. Just one for myself :P

I went specially to watch "Twilight". I've read all the books and after recovering from the bad news that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is going to be released until July (buaaaaaa!!!) I went and watch Twilight instead. It was great, better than I expect it to be... and the best part was... yep, the Harry Potter trailer hahaha..... no, really it was good and I enjoyed it a lot. I'm going to go and watch it again one of this days. Now that I realized that going to the movies by myself is not such a big deal I might go more often ;)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I know I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet but I'm all into Christmas lately. I already set up the Christmas tree and Mr. Danita put the lights outside. It was so weird to hang the ornaments just once... not like last year that I spent my days following my daughter and begging her to return the ornaments to hang them again! :P

I also bought a beautiful purple-bluish kind of color garland for the studio and add more ornaments to the little tree that is on display all year round. I'm also preparing a huge shop update with lots of new boxes and beautiful jewelry. I even made a few ornaments!! Keep checking my shop I'll be adding them soon :)

Today is a good day for...

Eating cucumbers!!! I'm finally eating normal again!!! I went to the doctor this Saturday and even she was surprised on how boring my diet was haha... so I'm going to eat normal with small portions again. I had hot cakes yesterday... and beef!!! I hadn't eaten beef in 2 months!!!... and today I prepared some fresh, crispy cucumbers with lemon and chili yum!!! It was a wish come true!!! Let's see how I do now that my diet has more variety... I tend to cheat when I have many options. Oh and by the way, thanks so much for all the comments and suggestions!!

Now in the artsy news. I just updated my shop with some new cool broochees. Some from my Pretty Girls series and some new circular ones... and they're all shipping for free in the US. My gift to you during this season :)

Oh and I also added a new original painting there, in case you were wondering what I've been doing (besides a secret project I'm working on that I'll show you other day).

Second visit to the dietitian...

I'm a little nervous... this Saturday is my second visit to the dietitian and I'm not sure If I've lost what I'm supposed to. My problem is that I get bored easily... and I don't eat many things (like cheese for example). So when they gave me the diet for last month I couldn't come up with many variations (I don't like creams either)... so at the beginning I was religious about it and lately I've been cheating a bit... for example at night I'm supposed to eat mashed veggies with protein and I'm just eating some lean ham... I don't have many options for mashed veggies (carrots, potatoes and squash it's the only thing that I could eat mashed)... I'm also supposed to eat my breakfast at 7 or 8 and I eat it at 10.... I hope that doesn't make a lot of difference. I've been exercising and drinking water.... But I'm dying for something crunchy... like some cucumbers with lemon and chili.... just thinking about them makes my mouth water.... Oh well, I need to be strong and discipline myself... and think about other stuff because this only made me think in more crunchy foods :P

Halloween is fun... but the Day of the Dead is something apart!

I love Halloween. The idea of carving pumpkins and dressing up appeals a lot to me. Creating special art with Halloween in mind is also very fun. So we celebrate Halloween as an adopted tradition and go trick or treating. Here's my daughter this year. She went dressed as Super girl and got lots of candy... most of them which she ate that evening and then got a sugar rush. She never eats that much sugar... but we had a lot of fun!

We also had a lot of fun yesterday when we went to this year's Altar competition. It was great. There were lots of different Altars that I liked, but I had a favorite the moment I saw this one:

You just got to love these girls. They were dressed as Fridas in one of her famous painting "Two Fridas". They were still the whole night, and their altar was very well decorated with lot of details.
There were other good ones. My second favorite was the one for "El Santo":

This one was for Francisco Gabilondo Soler, Cri Cri. It was a very famous singer and composer of children songs. I grew up hearing this song at the beginning of every day at school :)

And there was also a show! Dances and a small play with this great Catrinas! They were like big puppets. The play was about a day in the cementery in the Day of the Dead in which they didn't received any food. It was very funny!

So this was the Day of the Dead for us. It was very fun, I hope you enjoyed the pictures. It's not like being there but it gives you a pretty idea of how great it was.

And that wasn't all I did during the weekend. I also made 5 new dolls: "Alice the mad hatter", "Frida y su muerte" , "The black cat", "Imaginary friends" and "Girl and bird". They're all so beautiful, unique and super special and they're all for sale at my Etsy Shop :)

Have a great week!
